Where your audio goes

We say we never store your recordings. That is a claim about our servers, and it is worth being precise about what it does and does not cover. Here is every place a recording exists.

Stage	What happens there
On the device's card	The recording is written encrypted with AES-256. After transcription comes back successfully, the device deletes the file.
On OnlyText servers	Never. The device is issued a credential that can write exactly one object and expires in 300 seconds, and it uploads to the transcription service itself. We only ever handle the name of that object.
At the transcription service	This is the part we do not control. A transcription provider may hold the audio briefly for abuse monitoring before deleting it. If that is not acceptable for your work, run the transcription service yourself and the audio never leaves your machine.
